Digital SAT Math Skills Study Guide

Review the main ideas in short, simple steps. Then test yourself on what you learned.

What to focus on first

  • The digital SAT Math section includes algebra, advanced math, data, geometry and trigonometry.
  • These are short multiple-choice drills; the official digital SAT also includes student-produced responses.
  • Write down each step rather than relying on guesswork.
  • Check units, negative signs and whether the question asks for x or something else.
  • Use official Bluebook full-length practice for real timing and adaptive test flow.

Topics in this course

  1. Algebra

Translate words into equations. Keep each step balanced and check solutions by substituting them back.

  2. Advanced math

Factor expressions and understand exponents and functions. Check whether a question has more than one solution.

  3. Data

Work carefully with percentages, rates and averages. Ask what a chart or figure actually measures.

  4. Geometry

Draw or label shapes. Memorize core formulas but also practise when and why they apply.

Sample practice with explanations

Solve: 3x + 7 = 22. What is x?

Correct answer: 5

Subtract 7 to get 3x = 15, then divide by 3.

A jacket costs $80 and is discounted by 25%. What is the sale price?

If y = 2x + 1 and x = 4, what is y?

Correct answer: 9

Substitute 4: y = 2(4) + 1 = 9.

What is the slope between (1, 2) and (3, 8)?

Correct answer: 3

Slope = (8 − 2) ÷ (3 − 1) = 3.

Five test scores are 4, 6, 6, 8, 11. What is the median?
